Who are you? (aka What’s your street cred?)
I’m Raquel, nice to meet you! I started out shooting on a 110 film camera with Barbie as my model, (posing on the trunk of her hot pink beach convertible,) and have had a camera in my paw ever since. From fine art training in the darkroom to winning awards and shooting for national magazines and brands, I combined technical knowledge with a creative vision to hone my visual style. Along the way, I worked closely with major brands, ad agencies, and spent ten years working in the agency world while running my photo business on the side.
That is until I found myself waist-deep in a burnout culture–in the middle of a pandemic to boot. I left behind the fancy title of Strategy Director of a marketing and web design agency (along with 13-hours a day on Zoom and nonstop tension headaches) and got to work on designing my dream job.
Now I help DIY marketers create high-quality content to promote their products and services and guide businesses on taking the right next steps in their marketing.

Can you Photoshop this out? Sometimes. Photoshop is an extraordinary tool, but when it comes to stellar photos, my philosophy is to get it as close to how you want it from the start. No amount of “fixing it in post” can make up for things gone wrong or overlooked from the beginning which is why I have a strategy-first approach to brand shoots and one-on-one projects.
